This book is about a boy named jonas. He is assigned to a job called the reciever of memories. His trainer is an elder who wants him to call him the Giver, and so he begins to give him good memories and terrible painful grusome ones. Read the book to find out what they were.

Emma - this is one of my favorite children's books. When I was a teacher, I found the story to be so profound that I convinced my principal to allow me to teach it to my 7th grade class. So many of my students were crying towards the end.
I have not gotten Seamus to read it yet. I tried once a couple years ago, but I think the setting and plot was too difficult for him to get into. Now that he's read the Hunger Game books, I'll try to get him on this one again.
It is an absolute gem of a book.
