the Sea of Monsters

This book is the sequel to The Lightning Thief. I liked it because it had a lot of parts in the book where you would hold you breath.

This book is 279 pages long. I'll give it five out of five stars (*****)!

I'm staying away from monsters. Not my thing.

My son Seamus loved this series. Unlike you, he's not a huge reader but these books really captured his attention.

Lisa, Emma has found some really good books that are gender neutral. Check out her older posts and you might find some Seamus would like. Also, Michelle would be happy to make some suggestions for what he might like.

We are currently reading The Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke - the same author he did Inkheart. Both boys (and Mama) are enjoying it a lot.

Im totally going to to back into the archives and see what else you have read.

I meant to write "the same author who did Inkheart."

Lisa,
You can also go into the library nearby and tell them what Seamus likes - and they should be able to give you more to try. Michelle calls them something like "read alikes." I think that's the term - it's a librarian thing. But you know what I mean.

It's great you're reading with your boys. As a prof, I think reading is the one thing that really sets students apart at the college level.
